Connecticut has real psychiatric capacity along the Hartford and New Haven corridors and noticeably less in the eastern and northwestern parts of the state. The other constraint here is scheduling rather than distance: a large share of residents commute into New York or Boston and cannot make a weekday daytime appointment near home.
Telehealth appointments fit around a commute instead of competing with it, which is often the difference between starting treatment and postponing it again.
